Photosynthesis is the fundamental physiological process that drives plant growth, productivity, and sustainability of life on Earth. This course, “Photosynthesis in Higher Plants,” provides a comprehensive understanding of the pigment system, mechanisms of photosynthesis, and carbon fixation pathways operating in higher plants. The course also explores environmental and chemical influences on photosynthesis, including the effects of xenobiotic chemicals. Through this course, students will develop conceptual clarity on photosynthetic efficiency, ecological adaptations, and the relevance of photosynthesis to agriculture, food security, and climate change.
